Winter Chapter
When I speak of the winter chapter in my life
I do not speak of the three-month season
I encounter each year
I speak of the death of self
I speak of the time nothing is blooming within
I speak of the time I appear lifeless on the outside
I speak of the time I got quiet
And withdrew deeply within
The winter chapter can be harsh and unforgiving
But I now understand that it has a purpose
And that spring always follows winter
