What is Christian Art?
When I use the term “Christian Art” most people will probably think of art that literally depicts moments from the Bible. That literally depicts Jesus Christ. That has some literal bible verses on them. I assume that is what most people think when I use that label. They certainly would not look at my photography collection and say that is Christian Art. However, in many ways I see at such.
During the entire journey of spending countless of hours photographing flowers my heart and soul was seeking God. It was seeking Christ. It was seeking healing. I tried to understand my own natural design better by connecting with flowers. I wished to understand the lessons that flowers could teach me. Flowers that were placed there by my creator. I was trying to understand him through his world.
My rational mind could not articulate it in a manner that I am doing now but my heart was seeking it. I was doing what felt natural. I was connecting again with my own biology. All that so I could glorify him. This entire journey and energy are infused into my photography. It documents my journey as crawled through the spiritual wilderness back onto the straight and narrow path of Christ. Only then did my heart finally feel at peace.
So, in many ways my photography can be classified under Christian Art because it documents my journey of seeking God with all my heart and clawing my way back to Christ. It documents the only way I could finally begin to bloom. It might not spell it out specifically with words, but it is infused in every photograph. Shining bright with hope.
